This features a collection inspired by the local folk dance Pandang-pandang, a courtship dance from Capiz, Philippines. The vibrant and playful performance mimics the movements of two birds: the Alagit-it (owl) and the Dapay (a small bird). The dancers use their arms to simulate the birds’ wings, capturing their grace and fluidity.
The collection is primarily crafted from birang—a locally woven fabric made from abaca fiber, sourced from Capiz. Drawing from the dance’s symbolism and movements, the collection blends traditional Filipino clothing elements with contemporary, edgy silhouettes, creating a modern twist on a rich cultural heritage while offering a fresh editorial perspective to resonate with a global audience.
